Maximus Air loads up with another industry award

Abu Dhabi, 08 November 2012 – Maximus Air’s pre-eminence as the region’s leading air Cargo Company, was reinforced with another industry award this week.
The Abu Dhabi based company was recognised as ‘Cargo Operator of the Year’ at the 2012 Aviation Business Awards, held at the Westin Hotel in Dubai last night. (7 November 2012).
The Award, in recognition of the airline’s ability to maintain its strong growth and profitability record against a backdrop of continued tough economic conditions for the global cargo industry, was presented to Bassam Abu Hijleh, Vice President Flight Operations & Acting Chief Operation Officer, as determined by a panel of top level judges and aviation experts.
The Aviation Business Awards recognise the regional and international players that have gone above and beyond in terms of their industry contribution.
Maximus Air’s balanced business model of Charter and ACMI contracts minimises the company’s risk during downturns, while highly effective cost saving initiatives and operational changes also helped boost the bottom line.
“There is no doubt that this has been a tough year for our industry, so to be recognised for our efforts gives everyone in the company a boost,” said Fathi Buhazza, President & CEO.  “One of the major highlights during the year and a major contributor to our success was the consolidation of our European operations through a new Eastern Europe hub in Ukraine. This move had an immediate significant, positive impact on operations across central Europe and Eastern Europe optimizing the availability of aircraft and increasing flights.
Buhazza added that a successful airline is not only a profitable one.
“Maximus Air is proud of its UAE ancestry, and pays homage to his past leaders by recognizing its role to serve the logistics community better,” he said. “We are also delighted that the Care by Air initiative in which Maximus played a pioneering role has also been recognised tonight.
