MAXIMUS AIR CONSOLIDATES EUROPEAN OPERATIONS

Abu Dhabi, 8 September 2012 – Maximus Air, the Abu-Dhabi based all-cargo airline, is to consolidate its European operations through a new Eastern Europe hub in Ukraine.
The move follows the establishment of Maximus Airlines, a new company formed last year, 100 per cent owned by Maximus Air in Abu Dhabi.  The operation was granted its Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) in November 2011 and since then has been establishing itself as a fully autonomous business unit.
Fathi Hilal Buhazza, Maximus Air’s  President and CEO says that the operation, with its headquarters based close to the centre of Kiev is to replace the company’s existing outstations such as its United Kingdom branch.
“In the first few months this consolidation has already had a significant, positive impact on our operations across central Europe and Eastern Europe optimizing the availability of aircraft and increasing flights,” he said.
“Additionally, we will now be able to target an increased share of the outsized cargo business – our specialty – in Eastern and central Europe as well as general all round increase in capacity. This operation endorses a trend of strengthen business relationships between UAE and Ukraine, and we are proud to give support to those Ukrainian nationals that have benefited from our employment opportunities.”
Tony Sanders, Director Antonov & Ilyushin Fleet adds that one of the biggest differences between the way Maximus Air used to operate and the way the company can now operate is control.
“Previously we had to outsource to other suppliers, virtually all aspects of our operations. This meant we were never totally in control even though we had forged a very good working relationship with those suppliers. Now as Maximus Airlines – with more than 100 specialized and highly skilled staff - we can and have - brought all these elements in house.
“The benefits are not only the cost effectiveness, pooling all the expertise therefore improved efficiencies of being in control of our flight operations from crews to ground handling,” he says,” but we also have the opportunity to reverse the role and offer our services to other companies, especially in an area like maintenance. We have just won a maintenance contract from Z Avia, a Sharjah-based airline – we hope the first of many.
